Dr. Inaba is a Professor of Surgery, Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. He is the Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery, and the program director for the General Surgery Residency training program. He is also the Chief of Trauma, Emergency Surgery and Surgical Critical Care at LAC+USC, one of the largest trauma centers in North America. He has lectured extensively, having given more than 420 lectures around the world. As a researcher, he has authored more than 560 peer reviewed articles, 410 scientific presentations, 55 textbook chapters, and is the editor of 7 textbooks. While at USC, he has been the recipient of 26 teaching awards including the USC Keck School of Medicine Overall Excellence in Teaching Award for the Clinical Sciences, a Master Teacher distinction from the school, and the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award. He is a director for the American Board of Surgery and a member of more than a dozen surgical societies, leading initiatives such as the education committee for the nationally recognized American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed course and the Mobile Advanced Trauma Life Support program. In addition to his role at USC, Dr. Inaba is also a sworn Police Officer, and the Chief Surgeon for the LAPD, currently assigned to Metropolitan Division.
