Dr James Moore

Intensive Care Specialist, Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist, Wellington Regional Hospital; National Trauma Co-Lead, Trauma National Clinical Network, Wellington, NZ James leads the trauma service at Wellington Hospital and is the regional clinical lead for the Central Region Trauma Network, and is a member of the NZ National Trauma Network.
A graduate of the University of Otago Medical School, he completed his specialist training in New Zealand with further subspecialty training in cardiac anaesthesia & intensive care at Royal Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom. James also holds a Master of Science with Distinction in Trauma Sciences from Queen Mary University of London. |
James is a senior research fellow at the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand and is a principal investigator for a number of clinical trials in the fields of trauma, traumatic brain injury, bleeding and transfusion, in association with the Australian & New Zealand Intensive Care Society Clinical Trials Group. In addition to his research and clinical work, James is an active educator, teaching on several courses, including Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) and Definitive Surgical Trauma Course (DSTC). He is the Priory Medical Advisor for Hato Hone St John New Zealand and was made a Commander of the Order of St John in 2019.
