Dr Kerry Gunn

Dr Gunn originally trained in Trauma Anaesthesia in NZ and USA (Harborview, Seattle). Upon returning to Auckland City Hospital he developed a research and governance interest in Patient Blood Management, Haemorrhage and Improvement. He tackled the Critical Haemorrhage Bundle with HQSC in 2020 with NZ colleagues.

Trauma MHP – What’s Next?

The management of the exsaunuinating trauma patient presents a stressful and complex clinical problem to attendees caring for patients at the scene, transfer, arrival and definitive treatment. Mortality is high in these groups. A program was developed in New Zealand from 2020 under the HQSC to attempt to understand opportunities for improving  outcome using a bundle multidisciplinary approach. Data is presented here on the outcome and future directions.
