Georgia Dick is the Critical Care Physiotherapy Educator for the Central Region (Te Ikaroa) of Aotearoa New Zealand, covering the lower North Island. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Otago and went on to undertake a Master of Professional Practice through the Eastern Institute of Technology.
Georgia has a strong interest in critical reflection and professional supervision, which led her to pursue a non-clinical Master’s programme focused on advancing professional practice. Drawing on her lived experience of Cyclone Gabrielle, Georgia explored the impact of disasters—and disaster preparedness, or lack thereof—on the wellbeing of healthcare workers. Her work highlights the individual and organisational challenges faced during disaster events. In her talk, she shares practical, experience-informed recommendations for both individuals and organisations, with a focus on strengthening preparedness, response, and recovery across all phases of disaster management. |
