Dr Mya Cubitt

Emergency Physician, The Royal Melbourne Hospital;  Clinical Senior Lecturer in Critical Care, The University of Melbourne; National Medical Director, Silverchain Group, Melbourne, Australia
Dr Mya Cubitt is a senior emergency physician, academic, and national health system leader with deep expertise in geriatric trauma — the intersection of injury, frailty, and the complex needs of older patients navigating acute care systems.

She is National Medical Director, Care Governance and Risk at Silverchain, and holds an academic appointment as Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Critical Care at The University of Melbourne.

Her peer-reviewed research spans geriatric trauma triage, frailty assessment in injured older patients, and models of acute care for older patients across Australia and New Zealand. She is a co-investigator on the NHMRC-funded CELPI trial and a member of the International Federation of Emergency Medicine’s Trauma and Geriatric Special Interest Working Groups.

Dr Cubitt trained in New Zealand and Australia following her medical degree at the University of Otago, graduating as a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine with the Buchanan Prize. She holds a Masters in Trauma Science (with Distinction) from Queen Mary University of London and has contributed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital State Trauma Service.
Her work is driven by a commitment to equity in access to care for older patients — a population whose needs too often exceed what our systems were designed to provide.
