Eileen Bulger

Professor of Surgery, University of Washington, USA Dr. Bulger is Professor of Surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, Chief of the Division of Trauma, Burn, Critical Care Division, and Surgeon-in-Chief at Harborview Medical Center. She is the Medical Director for Trauma Programs at the American College of Surgeons and the President of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma.
Dr. Bulger has an active research program. She has served as co-Principal Investigator for trauma with the Resuscitation Outcomes Consortium and as Principal Investigator of the Seattle Crash Injury Research and Engineering center. She is currently leading the development of a National Trauma Research Action plan for the United States and is a member of the Board for the Coalition for National Trauma Research. Her research interests include resuscitation strategies for hemorrhagic shock, trauma system development, the prehospital triage and management of injured patients, the biomechanics of injury after motor vehicle crashes, modulation of the inflammatory response after injury, and necrotizing soft tissue infections. Her research program has generated over 300 publications. |
Errors in Trauma Management
This talk will discuss the most common causes of preventable death in injured patients and strategies to address them. We will focus on the implementation of evidence-base care and development of a robust quality improvement program through a standardized approach.
Stop the Bleed: How Does It All Fit Together?
This talk will focus on the implementation of the American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed program, the evidence to support the program, and how this program fits with in the trauma system.
